2007 FedEx Cup – The Final Standings

Cal on September 17th, 2007

A bit of a disappointment really that 16 Australians made the 140 man playoff, and only four came through to the final.

Badds was about the best, moving up from 18 to six, and I got the impression he was the only one trying to do anything out there.

Position Player Points
6 Aaron Baddeley 103,350
12 Adam Scott 100,684
13 Geoff Ogilvy 98,918
23 Robert Allenby 96,634

Apparently there’s no truth to the rumour Tiger is only playing in two of the playoffs next year..

2007 Deutsche Bank Championship

Cal on August 31st, 2007

Okay, we will ignore the fact this is the only tournament to start on a Friday, and that it confused the hell out of me for a while when I was setting up my Fantasy Golf team! You can have a look at the web site, or even the course. Live scoring is over at [...]

Australians Left In The FedEx Cup

Cal on August 27th, 2007

Okay, so we know Gavin Coles didn’t make it to the next tournament. Also missing out by just one spot (a miserly 25 points) is Steve Allan. Not making the cut will do that to you! Mathew Goggin was two spots and 500 points out of contention. He missed the cut too. Andrew Buckle made [...]

Citing a wrist injury, Stephen Leaney withdrew after his first round at The Barclays Championship. Leaney had a 5 over 76 in his first round. Since he was 68th in the FedEx Cup points going into the tournament, he will still be eligible to play in next weeks Deutsche Bank Championship. Gavin Coles had managed [...]

Australians At The Barclays

Cal on August 23rd, 2007

So this is it. The first tournament in the much vaunted FedEx Cup, where having the most points at the end of the 4 tournaments will basically give you a US$10 million Super scheme. There are 16 Australians in The Barclays being played at Westchester Country Club in New York. Position Name Points 10 Adam [...]

Leaney was the fourth alternative, but managed to score an invite after the man ahead of him (Jason Bohn) withdrew, and the first two alternatives gained spots due to other results on the weekend. John Daly made history in 1991 by winning the tournament after being the ninth alternative, and you have to wonder if [...]

Stupid Statistics

Cal on August 7th, 2007

I was having a look on the PGATour.com website at the standings of the various Australians, and something really stupid caught my eye. Have a look at Gavin Coles’ page and the “Did You Know” down the bottom there. The second dot point states “He ranks T1st in 3-Putt Avoidance – Inside 5′ on the [...]

2007 Memorial Tournament

Cal on June 4th, 2007

Well it was too good to last. After having Adam Scott, Rod Pampling and Badds sit 1, 2 and 3 atop the leader board at the halfway point, the best finish was Rod Pamplings’ tie for third at the end. On the second day, Adam Scott finally got his putter working and signed for a [...]
