By winning for the third time in one year on the Nationwide Tour, Nick Flanagan earns an automatic exemption to the PGA Tour for the rest of the year, and a guaranteed card for 2008. He’ll have to wait a month though whilst the Fed-Ex cup is played out.
He becomes just the eighth player in tour history to earn an in-season PGA Tour promotion.
Gotta love this comment from him though: “The good thing about it is that I am set up for next year. I may play the rest of the year for some Christmas money. You’re not going to stop me from playing in four-and five-million-dollar events.”
Flanagan began the round seven strokes behind third round leader James Driscoll. Carding a 63 to Driscolls’ 71, Flanagan took out the tournament by a stroke.
