2007 Australian Junior Amateur - Day 1

Lincoln Tighe, from Bonnie Doon Golf Club in Sydney, has a one-stroke lead following the first round of the 2007 Australian Junior Amateur Championship being played at Cottesloe Golf Club in Perth. In perfect playing conditions, the NSW Junior Team Member returned a four-under par 68, which included six birdies.

Local favourite Jason Scrivener from Mandurah Country Club and fellow Australian Boys’ Team Member and current World Junior Champion, Matthew Giles from The Australian Golf Club, are one stroke behind. Both players returned three-under par 69s, after each chipped in twice during their rounds.

Four players share fourth position after returning one-under 71s.

After tomorrow’s second round, the field will be cut to 60 and ties, with the final two rounds to be played on Friday. The winner of the event gains automatic exemption into the 2007 MFS Australian Open to be played at The Australian Golf Club in December.
