Aaron Baddeley has won his second US PGA Tour event, the FBR Open at TPC Scottsdale with rounds of 65-70-64-64 for a tournament total score of 21-under par.

Baddeley began his final round in brilliant fashion, holing an eagle on the third and despite a bogey on the 14th, he was able to make up for it with a late string of birdies on the 15th, 16th and 17th, to take the lead and hold on to it with a par finish at 18.

Baddeley began the final round in second position, and hung onto his position at the top of the leaderboard to take home the US$1.08 million prize money in front of one of the largest crowds on the US Tour.

“I just tried to hang in there and thought if I could be one behind going into the last that I’d be a chance but I ended up being one in front so it was a bonus”, said Baddeley. “I hit a perfect shot on 15, probably the best second shot I’ve hit all week and then a great putt on 16 went in exactly how I thought. It was just awesome”.

The next best Australian in the field was Peter Lonard, finishing the event on 12-under the card and in equal 14th position, followed by Steve Elkington in equal 44th position, with Nathan Green and Rod Pampling both T57.

On the European Tour, Stuart Appleby has finished the best of the Australians at the Dubai Desert Classic, in equal 15th position and eight shots behind winner Henrik Stenson on 11-under par.

Appleby began the final round T31, but a final round 68 moved him back up the leaderboard. Richard Green was the only other Australian to make the cut, finishing T34 on six-under the card.
