2006 Cadbury Schweppes Australian PGA Championship - Day 3
Moving day - and none made it more obvious than Nick O’Hern who shot a course record equalling 63! He could quite conceivably shot a 60 if a the putts that lipped out actually dropped. He sits tied at the top with Peter Lonard.
Peter Lonard and Ryan Haller shot 7 under, whilst the old stager Peter O’Malley came in with a 6 under.
At the start of his round Lonard looked like he was going no where, getting to one under for the day before stepping onto the seventh green and holing the first of six birdies in seven holes. He then made pars for the next 5 holes.
Meanwhile O’Hern had a couple of chip ins to help his score, and birdied the 18th with a tricky ten foot putt to equal the course record set by Stuart Appleby and since matched by Bob Estes, Matthew Goggin and Wade Ormsby.
Ormbsby had a creditable 4 under today and sits in outright fourth place.
Order of Merit Leader, Kevin Stadler, shot even for today and currently sits at two under (tied for 46th place). He has a mountain of work to do tomorrow to get anywhere near the top of the leader board to make up some extra money and try and keep O’Hern and Nathan Green (currently tied for seventh) away from the OOM title.
